About Al Madinah

Madinah

Situated in the fertile region of Hejaz, Madinah is at around 210 miles away from Makkah and has 120 miles of distance from Red Sea coast. Known to be the 2nd holiest city in Islam it has great historical landmarks and blessed mosques.
Pilgrims coming for Hajj or Umrah visit the blessed city of Madinah and also visit its sacred places including Masjid an-Nabwi, Quba Mosque, Masjid Qiblatayn, and Jannat al baqi. As we all know Masjid an-Nabwi is one of the sacred places for Muslims as our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW was buried inside this mosque. The 2 caliphs of Islam Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar are buried next to Prophet Muhammad SAW.

The historical background of Masjid Qiblatayn is this that in this mosque, Allah has revealed the command of changing Qibla direction from Jerusalem to Haram and Prophet Muhammad and his companions has changed their direction and faced Holy Kaabah during the prayer of Dhuhar. That's why it is known as Masjid Qiblatayn, the i.e. mosque with 2 Qiblas. Masjid Quba is historically significant as it was the first mosque which was built by Prophet Muhammad SAW and his companions after migrating to Madinah and established Salah.
The blessed city of Madinah also known as Yathrib, is the second most blessed and important city for Muslims as our Prophet Muhammad SAW and his companions took refuge in this city and migrated to Madinah. Afterward, he established a first Islamic state in the blessed city of Madinah.
